AMP Project summary
Summary of the AMP Project: “Class I and Class II Medical Device Development with Advanced Material Technology for 3D Printing”
Over $500,000 and 24 months time will be invested by a collaboration for the AMP project. The objective is to maximize 3D printing technologies in the O&P space using an advanced biopolymer.
This project is divided into 3 phases:
- Qualifying variations of biopolymer technology for 3D printing
- Demonstrating the feasibility of 3D scanning and modeling technologies to produce select orthotic and prosthetic devices
- Producing conceptual prototypes of smart devices
Deliverables of this project include:
- Specification sheets and processing parameters for variations of performance-grade 3D printing materials
- Complete statistical analysis of thirty 3D printed devices including: data encompassing the design, production & quality of the device
- Trial data returned by the smart device
The approach taken for this project is holistic and will consider additional details such as compensation rates and auxiliary requirements necessary to utilize the technology. Findings from this project will be applicable to companies in the O&P industry across the nation.
